The Story of The Bible ~ by Larry Stone

What a wonderful book!  I have so enjoyed going thru the paages of this book, reading church history and getting to look closely at copies of historical documents.  As a student working on my Masters in Biblical Archeology this was a wonderful find.  I have taken several hours of church history and this book is just overflowing with information and pictures and history!

In this book we see the history of the bible and the scrutiny it has gone thru and the authority that it stands with even after all of the disecting of its Word.  The storeis are readable and enjoyable ~ even for those without a scholrly degree.  My thirteen-year-old has picked it up and gone thru it, reading a few stories and has enjoyed learning more about the bible.

This is definately a wonderful book to read and own!

A Conversation with God for Women by Marcia Ford

After reading conversation with God, i could not wait to get the women’s version.  Though you can tell it is a different author it is the same premise as Conversation with God and delves into different questions and aspects of God and Jesus, who they are and their character. Still enjoy the format of asking a question and then God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit or a woman from the Bible answer the question ~ I think of it as “talk show” format.  It allows you to get a perspective from the Old Testament (God), New Testament (Jesus) and perhaps a view from another biblical person or two.  Many questions are addressed in other books of a theological nature, but I enjoyed they simple way this says the same answers almost as if hearing it a bit differently sets off a light bulb in the brain.

I would definitely recommend this book ~ as a matter of fact my family is doing it as a daily devotional!
